Release

Small boughs are cracking under HER feet,
Hard leaves are scratching HER skin.
Not easy to breathe because of the heat.
Sweat’s dropping down from HER chin.

HER body is tired, HER thoughts are in haze.
SHE can hardly see what’s ahead,
But SHE is rushing through jungle maze
Wanting just not to be dead.

SHE’s fleeing from danger, the danger is THEY,
Who are chasing to bring HER back
To the village where THEY plan HER to lay
On the altar, HER body to hack.

THEY worship gods, that rite is a must,
SHE has to give THEM HER soul.
THEY need HER chest to be neatly thrust
And HER heart to be placed in the bowl.

Being a captive, it’s HER fatal lot.
But SHE managed to find a way out.
Now SHE is in jungle, the weather is hot,
And HER body is already worn out.

SHE’s standing near the high waterfall,
And THEY are already approaching HER
SHE is not choosing the life of a thrall,
SHE’s jumping down, stopping the stir.

Is SHE alive? THEY do not know.
THEIR pursuit is to be ceased.
THEY are returning to THEIR show.
HER body and soul are now released.

The confession of a thief

I see the checked sky every day.
The food is not delicious here.
The weather’s sad, though now it’s May
And officers do always sneer.

Do you know, my friend, the real reason?
I’ll tell you nothing but the truth.
The story happened in this season.
3 years ago. In my late youth.

I was a thief. Yes, yes, I was!
Success and Fortune were my names.
Until one day. It was a curse
That I took bet with Grumpy James.

I had to steal a blue diamond belt.
It was possessed by one emperor.
I had a nice plan, but still I felt
That I was making an awful error.

I took the necessary gear
And sneaked into museum hall.
I had a weird sense of fear
As it wasn’t difficult at all.

So, the precious thing was found.
It flickered slightly in the centre.
Alarm was turned off all around.
I locked all doors. No one could enter.

I carefully cut the glass
And pulled, but it was no result.
The second time, the third, at last.
I fancied how I would exult.

My dream was interrupted by the noise.
It came abruptly from nowhere.
I tried to hide. I lost the poise.
I realised – It was betrayal.

So, now the jail is my sweet home.
It is my shelter for 6 years.
But Grumpy James is now in Rome
Having much fun with his thief peers.

"If only it could happen..."

If only it could happen
My all dreams would come true,
I wish I had a salmon,
I’d cook then perfect stew.

And if I had two tickets,
I would invite my friend,
We would go to the Opera
And sit there till the end.

I wish I had an easel,
I would begin to paint.
At first it would be weasel
In bright colours, not in faint.

And if it was bad weather
I’d spend the whole day,
Putting a puzzle together
And in the end I’d say,

It would be nice to be so,
I would feel never blue.
If only it could happen
My all dreams would come true.
